Since 2008, Satsuki has been selecting Japanese products for cooking, discovering new flavours or enjoying the tastes of Japan in everyday life.

Our catalogue features essential ingredients such as soya sauce, miso, rice, noodles and dashi, as well as teas, sake, snacks, tableware and kitchen utensils.

Behind every product lies the same aim: to offer items that are interesting in terms of their flavour, quality or use, whilst remaining as true as possible to authentic Japanese traditions.

Everyday consumer goods in Japan

We prioritise products that have a genuine place in Japanese cuisine and culinary traditions.

Some are essential for preparing traditional recipes: Japanese rice, soya sauce, miso, dashi, mirin and rice vinegar. Others allow you to discover the diversity of Japanese cuisine: furikake, curry, seaweed, pickled vegetables, noodle sauces, condiments, teas and sweets.

Our selection is aimed at both those just starting out with Japanese cooking and more experienced customers looking for a specific variety, brand or use.

Products selected for their quality, to suit all budgets

We do not select a product simply because it has the lowest price.

Taste, ingredients, the manufacturer’s consistency and the product’s genuine merit are also taken into account. When we feel a product is not up to standard, we prefer not to stock it, even if it might serve as a loss leader.

This does not mean that all our products are top-of-the-range. We also offer simple, affordable products that are commonly used in Japan. However, we strive to maintain consistent quality across every price range.

Our catalogue therefore includes:

A Franco-Japanese team

Satsuki is a team made up of a dozen people – mostly Japanese, with a few French members – who are familiar with the products, the brands and their uses.

This dual cultural background helps us to understand the expectations of consumers in France whilst maintaining an approach that remains true to Japanese customs.

This enables us to distinguish between products that may seem similar but differ in taste or use: light or dark soya sauce, white or red miso, rice for donburi or sushi, and dashi made from bonito or seaweed.

Our role is therefore not merely to offer Japanese products. We also aim to provide the information needed to choose and use them correctly.

A constantly evolving range of products

The Satsuki catalogue is constantly evolving.

We discover new manufacturers, test new products and take our customers’ feedback on board. Some new additions complement an existing range; others introduce customers to specialities that are still relatively unknown in France.

We retain the products that have become essential for our customers, particularly the ingredients and brands they use regularly in their cooking.

This quest for balance enables us to offer a mix of classics, everyday products and more original discoveries.

Products to cook, serve and share

The experience doesn’t stop at the ingredients.

Satsuki also offers Japanese tableware, chopsticks, bento boxes, knives and various accessories for preparing or presenting dishes.

A bowl suitable for miso soup, a donburi for rice dishes or a Japanese teapot allow you to continue using the products beyond the recipe itself.

You can thus create a cohesive world centred on Japanese cuisine, from the choice of ingredients right through to serving at the table.
