Organic Gyokuro shade green tea from Sae Midori, grown by the Shutaro Hayashi family
Shutaro HAYASHI belongs to the fifth generation of a family of tea growers in the prefecture of Kagoshima, in the south of the Kyûshû peninsula. At the foot of the Kirishima mountains, 霧島 the Hayashi family cultivates in their family gardens surrounded by forests, species of tea trees, some of which are becoming increasingly rare in Japan. All of their production is derived from fully organic cultivation that meets the challenges that come from the demanding work of an organic tea garden.
Shutaro Hayashi presents this exceptional tea from a neighbouring friend who strictly follows the same organic cultivation processes.
This year, only the leaves of the Sae Midori tea bush were selected to produce this Kirishima Organic Gyokuro 玉露 tea: the tea bushes are shaded for 3 to 4 weeks and their leaves carefully rolled into needles.
Enjoy this fine, elegant tea with its deep, intense umami flavour!
