Salted umeboshi plums 有機梅干 are produced from Ume plum, a Japanese plum variety, close to the apricot.

These plums are produced by marinating them in salt: red shiso (perilla) leaves are then added to give a lovely red colouring. In this version, the shiso leaves are also preserved to coat the soft texture of the plums... a pure delight .

These umeboshi plums are a Japanese speciality with a distinctive, salty and tangy taste.

It is a dietary condiment with multiple virtues recognized and appreciated by the Japanese: antiseptic, fortifying, mineralizing and also a remedy against hangovers!
