The Japanese love corn and have for.....centuries! Imported to Japan as early as the 16th century, it has been grown mainly in Hokkaido since the Meiji era.
It is traditionally called tômorokoshi とうもろこし and more commonly corn コン. In Japan, it is enjoyed hot on the cob grilled on the barbecue, in stir-fries and as a garnish on udon and ramen noodle dishes: it is even the main ingredient in delicious corn soups. Cold, corn makes an integral part of refreshing salads and takes pride of place in bento picnics.
Clearspring has selected this variety of organically and biodynamically grown coarse corn. Rich in many nutrients, proteins, vitamins and fibre, this naturally sweet, crunchy and juicy corn is easy to use.
