Morimoto family organic teas from Miyazaki

The Morimoto family tea gardens are located on Japan's southernmost island, Kyûshû, in the town of Miyazaki, in the prefecture of the same name.

The story of the Morimoto family's green teas began when the young couple founded their small business, with just one tea garden. Over time, the Morimoto family gained valuable experience of growing green tea. The number of tea gardens increased and a production workshop was set up.

One of the many characteristics of the Morimotos is the cultivation of seven varieties of tea bush: Yabukita, Kanaya Midori, Oku Midori, Oku Yutaka, Minimi Sayaka, Sakimidori and the Assamica Benifuki hybrid.

In addition to their different flavours, each of these tea varieties reacts differently to climatic conditions and insect attacks. If one variety were to suffer one year for any reason, the bushes of the other varieties would not be particularly affected, so a good harvest could be maintained. The Morimotos produce organic tea because they believe that this is a valuable objective, producing natural tea in an ecological and balanced environment.
