« Every summer in Japan, a remote mountain village celebrates the Festival of Shadows, a strange festival during which the inhabitants welcome the wandering souls of the dead who have lost everything, even the memory of their past lives.
Naoko, a dreamy young Japanese girl, lives among the shadows. Every summer, her village celebrates a very special ancient festival during which the wandering souls of the dead return.
Naoko's mission is to guide the soul of a man deprived of his memories and haunted by a terrible secret. If she fails, after a year the soul will be lost forever. As the seasons go by, feelings develop between Naoko and this soul, blurring the boundary between the world of the living and the dead.
