Furikake ふりかけ is a seasoning in powder form to be sprinkled directly on hot rice. There is an infinite variety to enhance and vary the tastes of the rice that the Japanese eat daily at every meal.
Mishima 三島 has been producing furikake since 1949, which the Japanese enjoy with relish at breakfast: they particularly appreciate its salty taste.....irresistible tasty!
This variety Umeko うめこ, are crunchy slivers of salted dried plums ume with a touch of red shiso: ideal to quickly add a touch of umami flavours to your rice bowls but also your onigiri dumplings!
You can also sprinkle them on your pasta and salads and bring them a very Japanese flavour!
