Calpis, Japan's must-have sweetened milk drink
A unique Japanese drink
Calpis (カルピス ), also sometimes called Calpico, has been a very popular drink in Japan since 1919, and is widely available in the country in a variety of forms.
Calpis was originally a white, non-carbonated, sweet drink containing milk fermented with lactobacilli: the creator of this drink wanted to create a beverage rich in vitamins and minerals. Since then, many variations have appeared.
The ultimate refreshing sensation
Simply mix 1 part Calpis concentrate with 4 parts still or sparkling water and add ice: in no time at all you'll be making your favourite drink... but try it with cow's milk or your favourite plant-based drink too...
