Sakés Koshu
What is Saké Koshu?
Koshu sake is a unique and less common category of Japanese sake.
The term koshu means “old sake” in Japanese. Unlike most sake, which is drunk young, Koshu sake is aged for several years, sometimes decades. This aging, often in bottles or barrels, allows the sake to develop complex aromas and flavors.
A unique and complex sake
Koshu sake offers deep, sophisticated flavors with notes of nuts, caramel, dried fruit and sometimes mushrooms. Its color ranges from golden to dark brown. Koshu has a thicker texture and marked acidity.
Koshu sake is best enjoyed at room temperature or slightly chilled, between 10 and 15°C, to appreciate its complex aromas. It goes well with robust, flavorful dishes such as braised meats, aged cheeses and chocolate desserts.
Koshu sake is appreciated by connoisseurs seeking a unique and memorable taste experience, ideal for special occasions and refined tastings.
